This quilt is foundation paper pieced and appropriate for the confident paper piecer. The radiating spikes take full advantage of paper piecing! Paper piecing results in sharp points in this dramatic design.

About the Contributor

Amy Friend is a former museum curator turned designer. She designs modern quilts and specializes in paper pieced designs. She authored the books Intentional Piecing (2016) and Improv Paper Piecing: A Modern Approach to Quilt Design (2017). Early in 2020 her next book, Petal + Stem: 40 Modern Floral Quilt Blocks to Mix-and-Match will be released. Her quilts have been exhibited at a number of quilt shows as well as museums.
