Jacquie Gering is a passionate modern quilt maker and designer. She is known for her innovative “out of the box” designs, striking message quilts and unique style. Quilting Modern: Techniques and Projects for Improvisational Quilts is her first book. Jacquie is a leader in the modern quilting movement and serves as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Modern Quilt Guild. The International Association of Creative Arts Professionals named her Quilt Teacher of the Year for 2014. She blogs and shares her quilting knowledge on her popular blog, Tallgrass Prairie Studio. She lives with her husband and black lab, Bruno in downtown Kansas City.
Shannon Page has won multiple ribbons and acknowledgments for her work and been published in Fresh Quilts (Fall 2014) magazine. She is the former Activities Chair and past President of the Dallas Modern Quilt Guild. Shannon currently sits on the Board for the Modern Quilt Guild as the Region 2 Representative and co-chairs the Education Committee. She’s had numerous quilts blind-juried into QuiltCon 2015 and 2016. Her quilt, Akhaten, was chosen to represent modern quilting in the MQG’s international traveling exhibit Best of QuiltCon 2015. She speaks at traditional and modern guilds and at museums such as the Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum, Dallas Museum of Art and the Amon Carter Museum of American Art. Heather Grant, Moderator, a quilter in her early 20s, Heather stopped quilting until 2005, when she was inspired by the modern quilting movement and made her first modern quilt. Heather is founder and member of the Austin Modern Quilt Guild and author of the popular blog, Modern Day Quilts. She is the Director of Marketing and Programming for The Modern Quilt Guild.
