Erika Mulvenna is a Fiber Artist, author, and educator, currently creating from her home in Chicago, Illinois. Inheriting a love of sewing and art from her mother at a young age, Erika earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Fiber Arts from the College of Fine Arts at Southern Illinois University at Carbondale and was a recipient of the prestigious Rickert-Ziebold Trust Award for excellence in undergraduate art when graduating.
Erika’s current artwork reflects a deep interest in human color perception and how humans approach color as something to be organized, categorized, and analyzed. These colorful works feature bright colors, geometric shapes, and a subtle illusion of depth on a 2-dimensional surface. Erika’s work has regularly been exhibited in quilt shows across the nation and is also included in the Modern Quilt collection of the International Quilt Museum.
