Like the Mini Book Flight pattern, Book Flight utilizes a mix of negative space blocks and two different book blocks set up on point and on an alternate grid. The larger canvas of Book Flight, designed by Donna McLeod, allows for more experimentation with negative space, cropping, and asymmetry to make a unique quilt for you.

About the Contributor

Donna McLeod discovered the joys of quilting at the tender age of thirtysomething and immediately fell in love with the therapeutic craft of sewing fabric pieces together. In 2019, she began designing her own quilt patterns under the name XOXSEW. She is also the author of Modern Landscape Quilts, which was released in 2023. It’s a delight for her to see her sketches turn into a functional, handmade quilt.

Donna has a background in film editing, which she now uses to produce quick YouTube tutorials. She lives in Los Angeles, California, with her spouse, two kids, and a rabbit. When not in her sewing room, she enjoys hiking (reluctantly), reading books and playing video games (avidly), and spending time with her family (almost always).
