MQG Guild Membership Dues

Benefits for MQG member guilds

A guild membership in the MQG includes the use of the Modern Quilt Guild trademarked name, advertising the guild on the MQG website, programming ideas, use of the MQG Zoom for guilds, leadership support, 501(c)(3) non-profit status under our umbrella (for U.S. guilds), and MQG membership benefits for all of your members.

MQG guild membership dues do not pay for the MQG memberships for each of its members. Membership in the MQG is the guild’s benefit – the members only receive it by being on the guild’s roster. All of your guild members should be on the guild’s MQG roster because all members, whether they choose to use MQG membership benefits or not, are benefiting from the guild’s membership in the MQG.

MQG Guild Membership Dues

The amount of dues each guild pays to the MQG is based on its size. This is in order to spread out the cost equitably among the various sized guilds. Non-U.S. guilds are discounted 35% because they can not benefit from the MQGs 501(c)(3) group exemption.

MQG membership dues are charged annually at renewal. In addition, a mid-year membership audit and dues assessment will be made in August. If a guild has moved to a higher tier level than they were billed for at renewal, an invoice will be sent reflecting the difference, prorated at 50%.

Tier Levels

We work hard to keep MQG local guild membership dues reasonable. The most a U.S. guild pays divided by the number of its members is $20.63 and the most a Non-U.S. guild pays is $13.44. To estimate the most your guild would pay per member – use your best guess as to the tier level you are most likely to be in and divide the MQG dues amount by the lowest number of members in that tier level. For example, a guild with 66-75 members will pay $1320 in dues to the MQG, $1320/66=$20. They would pay at most $20 per member.

If a guild ends up on the higher end of the tier level it will have a small surplus which can be added to the guild’s bank account to use towards expenses the next year, or simply to leave as a buffer. Moving up tier levels should not cause alarm; it is a sign that the guild is succeeding at outreach and welcoming new members! Since it will have already collected the guild’s membership dues from the additional members it will have funds on hand to pay the additional dues.

Need to see how many members are in your guild?

Key Contacts can log into their member profile, click on My Organization, then Org Members. This brings up the guild’s roster. At the bottom of the page, will be numbers that tell how many members of the total are being seen on that page. For example 1-5 of 58, in this case, 58 would be the total number of members on the roster.
