Meet Karen Cooper, Executive Director We’d love for you to get to know the MQG Staff! Every few weeks, we’ll highlight one of our eight staff members. We’re quilters too, and we each made a quilt using a pattern from the MQG Resource Library to share with you. Once the quilt is made, we will donate it to a local organization or raise money for a cause through the sale of the quilt. Our Executive Director is kicking things off with the Stretched ShooFly quilt by Josée Carrier. How long have you been quilting? I have been quilting for about 21 years. Do you have any quilting friends? (By quilting friends, we mean pets that like to hang out on your quilts!) I have one dog, Wrecks, and one dog-like cat, Franklin Dale. Do you have a favorite block or technique? My favorite quilt block/style is a log cabin. What about non-quilty hobbies? My favorite (only) non-quilting hobby is reading, mostly historical fiction. Tell us about your life before the MQG. I’ve been with the MQG for four years this month. Before this, I worked for Turfgrass Producers International, so if you have any questions about turfgrass, let me know. I live in Fayetteville, Arkansas, but grew up in Halstead, Kansas, about 30 miles north of Wichita. Did you make any modifications or additions to the quilt pattern? I left off the bottom row and widened the borders a little to make a nice infant-sized quilt and pieced the back using left-over pieces from the front. Where are you donating your quilt? My quilt is going to Project Linus of Benton and Washington Counties.
