Things are going so well with the Los Angeles Modern Quilt Guild!
We’re two months away from our 1 year anniversary and it’s been amazing to watch the growth of The Modern Quilt Guild since we began.
The LA guild is having a ball! Lots of wonderful activities have gone on…
Our fun meetings are filled with
…swaps:
Jamie getting Lori’s mini quilt
… and great speakers:
Kaari Meng of French General came and told us all about her love of French textiles and about her fabric line with Moda.
Of course we always have great show & tells!
And where we’re not meeting we’re…
….sewing together,
…and fabric shopping together!
A group of us who went to the Long Beach Quilt Festival on Saturday… sporting our guild pride with our shirts & totes!
We’re just generally all making lots of new friends who love quilting!

We hope that if you’re in the LA area and you haven’t checked us out yet, you’ll come to a meeting. We’d love to meet you!

When are your meetings? I’m from Camarillo, in Ventura County and would LOVE to join a modern guild. Thanks.

Hello Latifah,
I LOVE, LOVE your stripped quilt. How did you quilt it? What are the dimensions? It looks wider than 42″, did you cut your fabric width wise or are there seams?
Thanks,

Hey Beky! Not sure if Latifah will see this but I remember that she cut her fabric widthwise so there are no seams. Amazing quilt!!

Hey Beky! The strips were actually cut lengthwise – which forced me to buy a lot of fabric, a yard and 3/4 of each color. But, it prevented me from having seams AND since the fabric is more stable along the length of the fabric it makes the strips very straight. The dimensions are roughly 63″ x 82″.

By the way, does the sign on the left behind the Door say “Make Shit Your Self”? If so, How can I get one?

Ha – the sign does say that! It’s a print that was hanging at the shop we used to meet at (Home Ec, now closed) so I’m not sure how to find one. Maybe look around online? Thanks!
